The challenge
Cuxhaven's principal business hotel has been in our care across several phases of renewal. The challenge in each phase has been the same: create a genuinely maritime spatial quality within the constraints of a building that was not designed for it, and do so within a programme that keeps the hotel operational. The result each time is a room that belongs to its location — and that delivers a 4-star quality the guest does not expect.
The solution
In 2023 we extended the scope to include the planning of the staff accommodation building. From 2025, the practice is engaged on the design of an adjacent aparthotel and conference centre — due to open in 2027 — specifically configured for extended business stays.
